Starting a business is a big deal. There will be goals to reach, deadlines to meet, and work to be done. Unless you have an abundance of free time you’re going to need support. There are many different types of support to gather before you begin. First, let’s take a look at the reason why support is so important.
What Is Support and Why Is It Important?
Support encompasses a variety of things, including loved ones letting you work uninterrupted. It also includes hiring people (i.e. Virtual Assistants or VA’s) to do the work you don’t want to do, don’t have time to do, or just aren’t skilled at. For example, you might hire someone to design and create your website. Support also comes in the form of information to help guide you to achieve your internet marketing goals.
It’s important to have your support gathered and at the ready because you just don’t know when you’ll need it. In addition to rallying your friends and family to support you, start making a list of the people, technologies, professionals, and potential contractors or services you might need. Begin building your network of support now and they’ll be a quick email away when you need them. So what type of support do you need? Let’s take a look at the various types so you can begin collecting information and lining up your support people and systems.
Professional Support
Information Support – Where will you get the information you need to start and grow your internet marketing business?
Coaching Support – Will you have a mentor or coach? What about a mastermind group? Do you need someone to bounce ideas off, motivate you, or help you stay accountable?
Expert Services Support – Who do you know who can help you achieve goals and accomplish tasks? For example, if you don’t know how to write a sales page (and most people don’t) you might hire a copywriter. Gather resources by talking to other internet marketers, researching online and reading reviews.
Technological Support – Start considering the tools and technologies that can help you achieve success. For example, you might use a goal setting and tracking software or smartphone application to hold yourself accountable.
Personal Support
Family Support – Who in your family supports you to achieve your business goals? We’re not just talking about a pat on the back; we’re talking about someone who will know not to knock on the door of your office when you’re working or someone who will pick up chores around the house so you have more time to work on your business.
Peer Support – Do you have friends you can talk to who can be understanding and supportive? Consider joining associations, forums, and networking groups to meet other people who are also building internet marketing businesses. Peer support can be incredibly important.
Gathering personal support helps you and your family and peers take your venture more seriously. And gathering professional support means you’ll never have any question go unanswered or any challenge go unmet.
